Challenge

A North American health insurance company sought to move away from their existing model, where centralized testing teams independently wrote and ran test scripts.

Their goal was to integrate testing earlier in the development pipeline by adopting Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.

Historically, automated test suites were extensive, often taking hours or days to complete. This caused delays, pushing tests later into the delivery lifecycle, meaning potential code quality issues weren’t identified until much later. The company aimed to "shift-left," focusing on performing quality assurance earlier through unit testing and completing most testing before merging changes into the main branch.

CPT Global’s Actions

Over 15 months, CPT guided scrum teams in adopting TDD practices tailored to their unique requirements, establishing a dependable system for identifying issues while enhancing workflows and ensuring consistent quality improvements.
