European Insurer Enhances Security and Scalability with CPT Global’s Azure Migration Support
Challenge
An Australian statutory corporation with $5 billion in annual revenue needed to increase the capacity of its mainframe development and testing environments.
Their delivery cycles and release velocity were being impacted by limitations in these environments. Challenges included:
- Lost source code
- Poor documentation
- Reliance on traditional z/OS tools
- A limited number of dev/test environments
CPT Global’s Actions
CPT delivered the capabilities to make additional cloud-based lower environments available in a DevOps-style model. Actions included:
- Installing MFa and zServer on LPARs with VRIS and –DLS source and date libraries
- Installing Enterprise Analyzer (EA) on the Repository Server
- Configuring CICS regions
- Setting up Software Configuration Management
- Performing an Application Test Re-hosting Assessment
- Setting up Mainframe connectors
- Building and deploying DevOps
- Performing environment verification
CPT also identified missing source code, compiled source code, corrected incompatibilities, and produced a COBOL version of assembler code.
Results
- Increased capacity with more cloud-based lower environments.
- Faster delivery through improved delivery cycles and release velocity.
- Modernized development with DevOps implementation and modern tools.
- Improved testing through the application test re-hosting assessment.
CPT Global provided the tools and strategies necessary for full modernization of the organization’s mainframe operations.
